About Us

Active Presence has always helped its clients communicate more effectively with their chosen markets. When the company was established (in late 2002) the focus was the creation of close rate boosting sales presentations. In response to the increasing importance of online business - particularly from 2014 onwards - the company has shifted how it delivers its assistance.

We design, create and optimise more productive websites and funnels for companies that want to compete online.

The Company’s History

Chris Davidson is a professionally qualified engineer who started working in the computing industry before IBM launched its world changing Personal Computer in 1981.

Over the next two decades Chris worked in the IT, telecoms and aviation sectors. During this time he travelled extensively, including three years at IBM's research laboratory in southern France. It was here that he helped create the IBM Consulting Group and wrote some of the methodologies underpinning its project approach.

During his time as Director of Consulting Services, Chris worked closely with senior executives on many large scale projects. It was during this period that Chris took his entire department through PRINCE 2 training (to Practitioner grade).

So, how did an engineer end up founding a marketing company?

During his 20 years working for large organisations Chris saw many examples of poor communication and confused thinking. It was this that drove him to create Active Presence in late 2002.

Chris was convinced he could help people in business improve how they communicated with their market.

Initially Active Presence focused its efforts on helping clients clarify their thinking, and documenting that new clarity in highly persuasive sales presentations - an activity that brought the company considerable.

The further we have travelled into the 21st century, the more complex technology has become. Several years ago, it became clear to Chris that organisations were going to face challenges on two fronts:

  1. Clarifying their thoughts and developing a clear message.

  2. Communicating that message via an effective online presence.

Since approximately 2015 Chris has been testing, investing and developing new products and services to meet these two challenges.

Since 2017 Chris has published the Worldwide Digital Footprint Survey, an annual objective review of thousands of websites.

In 2018 Active Presence invested in Funnelytics, becoming one of the founding members.

A year later, at the start of 2019, Active Presence launched Speaker Business Builder,a done-for-you website and funnel building service, based on a revolutionary new content management system (cms).

In 2020 Active presence launched its new range of products, the Website Content series. This launch coincided with a major redesign of the Active Presence website to emphasise the company's focus on technology-enabled solutions to marketing challenges.
